This project was my bachelor’s thesis for my degree in Design at the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in Brazil. The book used for this project is "Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira" by José Saramago. My intention was to explore the interaction between the reader, the physicality of the book, and the reading experience itself.
The project prioritizes user experience as highly as the narrative crafted by the author, making the reader an active participant in the act of reading. Throughout the book, readers are guided on how to engage with the text through visual obstacles, reflecting the themes conveyed in the author's words. The book is entirely handmade and printed using a domestic laser printer. All the textures and misprints that occurred during the printing process were intentionally incorporated into the project.
